Willets (Catoptrophorus semipalmatus) in a territorial dispute.  Horseshoe crabs had deposited eggs on this section of beach and the willets seemed to be defending feeding rather than nesting territories.

Small's skullcap (Scutellaria multiglandulosa) may be found in moist pine woods or the edges of savannas. This specimen has just begun to bloom and the raceme will elongate as blooming continues, giving it the more conventional appearance. It is in the mint family.
